About the Department

Extension activities are educational programs and initiatives designed to extend support to the departments working on the same vision. Extension activities are integral to a well-rounded education, providing meaningful experiences that enhance academic learning and prepare students for personal and professional success across the departments.

TE & SCERT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar working with the following Departments, Organizations and Institutes regularly and as and when necessary.

Vision and Objectives

  • To bring liaison and co-ordination with other departments of education in the state.
  • To have liaison with different national level institutes and Organisations for smooth conduct of different activities.

Areas of Work and Elaboration

  • Oraganisation of different educational activities of NCERT, NCTE, NEUPA and MOE
  • Supporting OSEPA, DEE, HSE activities in the state.
  • Co-ordinating the activities of SCERT with support of NGOs like UNICEF, CSF, LLF and others.

Programmes and Activities

Conduct of Youth Parliament Competition and Felicitation

This programme is conducted to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of views of others and to enable the student community to have better awareness about the working of Parliament. It is an extension activity for I 7 PR Dept. Odisha

Objective:

  • to hear the voice of the youth
  • to engage them in public issues
  • to understand the point of views of common man and express them in an articulate manner.
  • To make them a conscious future citizen
  • To make them aware about the role and responsibilities of the members of parliament, state legislative assembly and council.

However, the mock parliament, also known as a model parliament or parliamentary simulation, is an educational exercise that replicates the procedures and activities of a real parliamentary session. It is typically used in educational settings to teach students about legislative processes, governance, and political debate.

Plan of Action 2024-25

The MHRD and SCERT, Odisha work in tandem to ensure the coherent and effective delivery of educational services across India. The MHRD sets broad national guidelines and frameworks, while SCERTs adapt and implement these guidelines within their respective states. This collaboration ensures that educational policies are both nationally unified and locally relevant, catering to the diverse educational needs of India’s vast and varied population.

NCERT, New Delhi and SCERT, Odisha are working closely to ensure the effective implementation of educational policies and programs across India. The collaboration involves:

  • Policy Alignment: SCERT aligns its state-specific curricula and programs with the national framework developed by NCERT to maintain consistency and quality in education.
  • Resource Sharing: NCERT provides educational resources and training materials to our SCERT, which are then adapted and disseminated at the state level.
  • Joint Training Programs: NCERT, New Delhi and SCERT, Odisha collaborate on training programs for teachers and educational administrators to promote best practices and innovative teaching methods.
  • Research and Evaluation: NCERT, New Delhi and SCERT, Odisha share research findings and collaborate on joint research projects to address common educational challenges and improve learning outcomes.

This collaboration ensures that educational policies and practices are both nationally unified and locally relevant, catering to the diverse needs of India’s educational landscape.

NUEPA and SCERT Odisha collaborate in various ways to enhance educational planning, management, and quality:

  • Training and Capacity Building: NUEPA’s training programs for educational administrators and planners often include participants from SCERT Odisha. This helps in building the capacity of state-level officials to implement effective educational policies and practices.
  • Policy and Planning Support: NUEPA provides technical support and advisory services to SCERT Odisha in the areas of educational planning, policy formulation, and management. This collaboration helps in aligning state-level educational initiatives with national goals and standards.
  • Research Collaboration: Both institutions conduct research on educational issues. Collaborative research projects help in sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovations that can be applied at both the national and state levels.
  • Data Utilization: NUEPA’s data systems, such as DISE, provide valuable data that SCERT Odisha uses for planning, monitoring, and improving educational programs in the state.

Through these collaborative efforts, NUEPA and SCERT Odisha work together to strengthen the educational system, improve learning outcomes, and ensure that educational policies and practices are both effective and contextually relevant.

UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) Odisha and SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) Odisha are two organizations that play significant roles in the education sector in the state of Odisha, India.

UNICEF Odisha: UNICEF works in collaboration with the government of Odisha and other partners to promote the rights and well-being of children in the state. In the education sector, UNICEF focuses on initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable children. SCERT Odisha: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Odisha is an autonomous organization under the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha. SCERT plays a crucial role in curriculum development, teacher education, educational research, and other aspects of educational planning and implementation in the state. It designs and updates the curriculum for schools in Odisha, develops textbooks and teaching materials, conducts research on educational issues, and provides training and professional development programs for teachers and educators. SCERT collaborates with various stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, and civil society organizations, to improve the quality of education and enhance learning outcomes in Odisha.

The Information and Public Relations Department (I & PR) of Odisha is responsible for disseminating information about government policies, programs, and initiatives to the public through various media channels. This department plays a vital role in promoting transparency, accountability, and public engagement in governance.

SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) Odisha, as mentioned earlier, is the Academic Authority under the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha. It is primarily focused on enhancing the quality of school education in the state through curriculum development, teacher training, educational research, and other related activities.

While both the Information and Public Relations Department and SCERT Odisha serve different purposes, they may collaborate on certain initiatives aimed at promoting education and awareness among the public. For instance, the I & PR Department might work with SCERT to disseminate information about educational programs, training workshops for teachers, or initiatives aimed at improving learning outcomes in schools across Odisha. Such collaborations contribute to the overall development and progress of the education sector in the state.
